Paleo Pie Crust – Apple

During Winter its really nice to be able to have a little warm treat on the weekend or maybe a weeknight if you feel the need…or breakfast cause this thing is so good for you you can do that!!!

This crust can be used for cold or hot tarts, this post has an apple filling. If you want to pair it with Ice Cream.

Paleo Apple Pie

Time: 1hr

Serves: 4

Ingredients

Crust

2 1/2 cups natural almond meal

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup coconut oil, melted

 

Filling

4 apples

1 tsp cinnamon

Flaked almonds*

Coconut Sugar*

*optional sprinklings

 

Method

Prepare 4 tart tins.

Stir together meal, cinnamon & maple. Mix in melted coconut oil.

Press dough into pie dishes (or one large dish if you prefer)

Chill in the fridge for 30-45minutes.

Preheat oven to 160c (fan-forced)

Place the tart tins on a?cookie tray, bake for 12-15 minutes, or till lightly brown.

If you want a cold tart let cool before you fill.

In a small saucepan place diced apples (I don’t peel them I like to try keep the fibre in), cinnamon and a splash of water.

Stew apples till soft, pour into warm cases and serve. or allow to chill and reheat when your ready to eat 🙂
